Tech Talks – Richard Cobourne
How can you generate excitement before delegates arrive at an event? How do you attract people onto your booth… and how do you keep them there?
Legendary Producer Richard Cobourne joins Feltech at Elstree Studios to talk show business, storytelling and the sticky questions of procurement and social media.
Richard joined the BBC as he says, “a jolly long time ago” in 1974 as a trainee audio assistant – working through and around various BBC departments; production and technical; both behind the camera and in front of the camera and microphone. Along the way he has been nominated three times for a BAFTA – but never won one! He resigned to pursue a successful commercial non broadcast career in 1989.
For almost 25 years, On Screen Productions (which he jointly founded) has been engaging and inspiring specialist audiences around the world with clever content, immersive events and memorable brand experiences from concept to completion. Meanwhile On Screen’s sibling OSP Healthcare, helps ambitious health and life sciences companies promote their products and services, winning dozens of awards on the way.
In February last year he successfully sold his interest to an ambitious MBO team, but remains as consultant.
Today, he is in demand as a consultant producer and director of experiential immersive experiences, complex events, exhibition booths, motion simulators, high end and digital media – especially in the science, technology, pharmaceuticals and biotech sectors.
He is also an occasional keynote speaker, international conference facilitator, awards host and out of vision announcer.
Above all he is a sprinkler of fairy dust, putting the “show” into “business” whilst engaging audiences and delighting clients.
Feltech would like to thank Charles Beddow and Media Powerhouse (www.media-powerhouse.com) for hosting the Tech Talks team at Elstree Studios.
