Tour De France

Launch of the Tour de France 2007

In February 2006 Feltech were contracted by Transport for London (TfL) via the QEII Conference Centre (QEII) to provide ENG coverage of the Tour de France 2007 launch event held at the QEII Conference Centre on 9 February.

Some of the biggest names in the world of cycling were there together with senior officials from the Tour de France Organisation, dignitaries from London and Kent, as well as Ken Livingstone, Mayor of London, who launched the event.

Feltech ENG Crew Covering the Launch of the Tour de France 2007

The Tour de France will start in London in 2007. The Capital will welcome around 200 of the world's best cyclists to battle on the streets of London for the legendary yellow jersey.

This will be a unique experience and the first time that the greatest cycle race in the world has visited London. Over three days the start of the race, known as the Grand Départ, will include the Opening Ceremony and Prologue race in central London. The race will also visit Kent, the Garden of England, where Stage 1 will finish in Canterbury. Three weeks after setting out from London the riders and their entourage will arrive in Paris where the race traditionally finishes.

The material that Feltech shot on the day will be distributed to the television media on the run up to the event to provide them with valuable background material. All of the material was shot on Digital Betacam and the shots were ‘left long’ ie unedited in order to provide broadcasters with the best quality material that could be edited in the way they wished as part of their background coverage on the build up to the event.
