Derwent London AV Systems
At the heart of London’s tech bubble in Old Street, Derwent London are building White Collar Factory, their new urban campus and concept for workplace design and wellbeing.
Drawing inspiration from the robust and adaptable buildings of the industrial 1900s, White Collar Factory is a flagship 16-storey office building and is part of a block-wide redevelopment. The goal is for the building to achieve both LEED Platinum and BREEAM Excellent accreditations.
White Collar Factory is about creating a place for people and personal expression. A future -proof blank canvas that offers an alternative to the familiar standard of over engineered, over-serviced offices, and allows occupiers to configure their working environment in a way that works for them.
In order to communicate the experience of the White Collar Factory before completion Derwent commissioned a marketing suite to showcase the project. Feltech were appointed to bring the suite to life through cutting edge AV systems technology and innovative technical solutions.
The marketing suite needs to convey the true spirit of White Collar Factory within the confines of a 325m² space, with many visitors using the technology to immerse clients in the future of inspirational architecture. The technology had to be intuitive, accessible, robust and creative. The aim was to seamlessly instill the spirit of the building whilst keeping the technology as invisible as possible.
To offer maximum flexibility for the user, Feltech specified a comprehensive range of audio visual equipment which can be operated wirelessly from a single iPad tablet, which contains a customised software programme to enable simple and intuitive operation.
A 6 metre curved projection wall using ceiling-mounted edge-blended LED Christie projection forms the heart of the marketing suite where prospective tenants can feel immersed in the distinct cool that White Collar Factory offers.
An interactive multi touch table created by Quintessence feeds the curved projection all controlled wirelessly by the Feltech designed iPad interface.
Using a Mac mini, Microsoft software provides scripting for complete seamless control without any need for a mouse or keyboard. Via the iPad the client can guide tenants step by step around the 360 degree CGI flythrough of the new building. The Airmedia system will also connect up to 4 devices to the system simultaneously, including laptops, smart phones, tablets or any device with a web browser. The system is completely wireless and the technology sits quietly in the polished design of the room. It’s uber cool, light, airy and very slick.
